Heritage Instructional Services is an independent Christian ministry and is not affiliated with any specific church or denomination. The Board of Directors and Staff of HIS hold to and operate under the following spiritual position and worldview. At the time of enrollment, each family enrolling in classes at HIS must sign this statement, indicating your acknowledgement of and respect for this position.

 

• The Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God. (2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
   

• There is one God as expressed in the Scriptures commonly known as the Holy Bible. He is eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (John 1:1; John 10:30; 1 John 5:7; I Corinthians 8:6; Genesis 1:26)
   

• The Son, our Lord Jesus Christ is God and Man in One Person. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, and died for the sins of mankind. He rose from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will personally return in power and glory to judge the living and the dead. (John 10:30; Matthew 1:18-25; Leviticus 17:11; I Peter 2:24; Hebrews 9:12; I John 2:2; Revelation 5:9; Luke 24:1-53; Matthew 24; I Thessalonians 4:16-17)
   

• The Holy Spirit indwells all true believers and enables them to live a life pleasing to God. (I Corinthians 3:16; I Corinthians 6:19; Galatians 4:6)
   

• Because of His gracious love for humanity, God offers every person eternal life. This gift is received by faith—that is, trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. (John 3:16;Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:28-30; Galatians 2:16; Philippians 3:9)

 

In addition to the primary tenets above, the leadership of HIS affirms and upholds
these Biblical tenets about gender, marriage, and human life:

• God wonderfully and immutably creates human beings as either male or female. Together, these two distinct, complementary sexes reflect the image and glory of God. Rejection of one's biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. (Genesis 1:26-27, Psalm 139:13-16)
   

• God created marriage to be the union of one man and one woman, pointing to the union of Christ and His Church (Ephesians 5:31-32), and that intimate sexual activity is to occur exclusively within marriage (Genesis 2:18-25; 1 Corinthians 6:18; 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4).
   

• Being created by God in His image, every human being has inherent value and dignity, and is worthy of protection and honor, from conception to natural death. (Leviticus 19:32, Psalm 22:9-10, Psalm 92:14, Psalm 139:13-15, Proverbs 20:29)
   

• We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking his mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10; 1 Cor 6:9-11.)
   

• We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31.) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitude directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of Heritage Instructional Services.
